  • VT advise after collection report

Hi guys first time posting on something like this just asking for advise.

VT'd a 2018 Nissan Quashqai Tekna. Car was very clean and in milage I just wasn't using it so just didn't want to outlay anymore. Was over the 50% mark so all good. 2 weeks after collection passed I recieve an update for £649 damages.

I took pictures before the car was collected and the collection report was excellent and stated no external damage and had pictures of the car from all angles. They are trying to charge me for a scratch, a dent and some trim damage on my rear quater panel. Where do I stand on this with the collection report being as it was and the photos that myself and the collection agent took.

I've emailed the finance and complaints department venting my frustration and the details that I have mentioned above and attached the collection report report own photos. I also stated that they had been in possession of the car over 2 weeks no doubt in a carpark or garage with multiple other cars and that could have happened at any time as it was not an issue at collection.

Now this could come back in my favour anyway I just wanted to know if you think i could get this damage taken off and should they disagree what you feel my next steps could be.

    TIA I appreciate any response.

    Thanks

    Hi

    Welcome to LB

You are only liable for damage to the car above fair wear and tear. The car's age and mileage should be taken into account when scratches and stone chips to paintwork and scuffs to wheels are apparent. The car is now approaching 7 years of age so a reasonable amount of wear and rear should be expected

If the finance company's complaints department disagrees with you or your letter is ignored and the company persists in chasing you for money, you should refer your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman
