Hi all I was recently involved in a accident which was not my fault unfortunately after insurance company have paid value of the car it has left me with a couple of thousands to pay .can I make a claim against the person at fault to cover this amount.

No, this is why drivers take out insurance to prevent being sued.
Try to find evidence such as adverts for similar cars to show that the insurance payout is too low and contact the insurance company.
If this fails or if there is still a shortfall speak to your finance company and try and come to an arrangement.
Next time consider GAP insurance to cover any shortfall.
