  • VT - Blackhorse - too easy?

    Hi all,

I’ve been thinking at VTing my PCP for a while, and having read a load of threads on here I was fairly terrified. Anyway, I couldn’t find my original contract to work out if I was over the threshold (although think I am), so I contacted Blackhorse and asked if they could send me a copy of the agreement. They replied quite quickly and said because they were all working from home they didn’t have access and couldn’t send electronically (bit odd) but if I wanted to know something specific they might be able to help.

I asked them to confirm my Total Amount Payable and Termination about, they obviously gathered the reason for my email as they sent me one back saying “there is no liability amount due therefore you can hand the vehicle back at any point” and went on to say they would send me a VT pack.

I’ve now received this pack, and again it all seems a bit straightforward, I have the option to drop off directly at an auction house for free, no mention of any charges etc. But again, because of this forum I’m really nervous about signing it!

The car is in pretty good condition, I’ve had it serviced as it’s supposed to be, I’m below my mileage, but it does have a few scratches down the side. Do the auction house check it there and then or is it just a gamble as to whether they seek to charge me afterwards?

I suppose what I’m asking is, am I being naive to just go with their paper work?! Have they maybe softened during COVID?!

Sorry for the length, just wanted to put as much detail in as I could.

The usual advice is not to use the form they send you but the one that is available on this site. Just in case they slide in some conditions that are disadvantageous to you.

Thanks, unable to access the template at the moment but I’ve seen a comment on another thread that it’s going to be re-uploaded.
