    If you cancel the full term they will charge you the short term rate anyway and refund the difference, if any

        Your current insurance policy will have a section about cancellation.
        Within that section it will tell you how the insurers will calculate any return of premium due if you cancel early.

        If you have bought the insurance through a third party (broker or intermediary) they will probably also make a charge of which you will already have been advised.
