  • collection cancelled

Hi, my four year PCP contract ends this month - what a relief.* However, the collection company on behalf of VW finance have said they are not coming because of the lockdown. That's it, no advice at all from them. I can't get through to VW Finance. If the last day of the contract arrives and I've not heard from them, what should I do with the car? Regards Ollie

    Hi,

Do whatever you want to do with the car, thats up to you. I think you have to appreciate the circumstances we're currently in is unprecedented and everyone has been advised not to travel unless essential so it's no surprise they aren't going tocollect at this time.

However, that also doesn't mean you have to bear the burden of looking after the car and maintaining it, if that's what you don't want to do. I would suggest keeping all correspondence in writing moving forwsard, but since your contract has come to an end you have a couple options:

    1. If you have a driveway, agree to keep the car provided that VWFS insurance and tax it.

    2. If no driveway or you don't want it on there, then you could let them know it will be parked up a public highway until such time they collect. You could also post the keys to them if you wanted to but that's at your risk of making sure they get there.

        Just a note of warning.
If you leave the vehicle in a public place and it is involved in an incident, as the last driver you may in some way be held liable.
If you have allowed the insurance to lapse, or cancelled it, you could have problems.

Look at a storage charge of say £25 / day - May gee them up to collect it.
