  • Desperate for help/advice - Voluntary Termination Damage/Excess Mileage Charges

    Hello,

So I've just received an invoice stating that after voluntarily terminating my PCP finance agreement (over half way through paying it, only have a few months left), I have been charged £680 for damage charges (relating to scratches etc, even though it's nowhere near as bad as they are charging, to be honest it shocked me how much they are charging) and excess mileage for £228. Is there any way I can dispute these charges or do I have to pay? I feel totally out of my depth and struggle with mental health issues so this is all really scary and overwhelming, but I feel like I'm not knowledgable enough to challenge it myself and don't know where to start. They are saying that I need to pay within 7 days. Please can somebody help me? I don't know what to do.

Can provide more info on request.

    Thank you
    Jade

    Hi Jade,

I don't know what you want me to help you with. There's plenty of threads and posts on here about how to defend excess mileage and vehicle damage charges and there isn't any magical way for this to go away.

You either have to accept it and pay up or fight your corner.

    Who is the finance company?

I'm aware there's no "magical way" to make it "go away" I will be fighting the charges and not paying. It's Alphera Financial Services

If you do a search on the forum for excess mileage charges you should find a number of varying letters to respond to Alphera. There's always a risk that they might commence legal proceedings but nobody apart from Mercedes and possibly Black Horse have instigated that I am aware of.

If you read my VT guide you will also see there are template letters too that you can use.

I'm not going to hand hold at this stage because there isn't anything new that hasn't already been covered. What if you don't pay in 7 days, does the letter say what they will do?
