Voluntary termination....date of termination

I have given notice of voluntary termination of my car finance. I wrote and posted the letter on Friday 30th August, stating that termination was from immediate effect. I believe it would have been received and read on the 2nd. Is termination effective on 30th or the 2nd. 2nd was the date of my monthly payment, so the question goes to liability.

Interestingly the the letter I got back dated 3rd talked about an intention to terminate, which was inaccurate, and asking me to sign their form. Thanks for any views. Nick

I believe terminated when they have received the letter. If you posted on the Friday (can you prove it?), then it assumed delivered 2 working days later, Tuesday 3rd.

There is no requirement to fill in their form, indeed it is recommended that you do not as it may attempt to tie you on to additional conditions of liability.
