  • Insuring a VT car

Hi, On the letter i received from MBFS when I told them I wanted to VT my car it stated that it should be kept insured until it is collected from me, which could be up to two weeks away, can you advise if this is the case and i do or do not need to keep it insured ?

    Many thanks

Yes you need to keep it insured until car picked up.

....and until YOU notify DVLA of change of ownership.
Send yellow slip from V5 form first class with free certificate of posting to DVLA (don't leave it to finance house)
DVLA are masters at losing their paper work and then issuing penalties!

Can the V5 details not be changed online?

I think keeping the insurance valid is as much for your protection inasmuch it protects you in case the car is damaged before it is picked up
