Don’t sign anything as mentioned prior.

However there is something about V5 which I’m not sure about. I think you have to send it off/retain a copy

      Maybe someone can help ?

Also if your inspection has passed, can you let us know how it went?

Sounds like you've misunderstood the VT concept.

Voluntary termination is a right that allows you to terminate any time before the final instalment is due.

So the real question you should be asking yourself is, what date did the letter say the agreement would terminate? If that date of termination has passed then you should be entitled to recover the money that was just paid under the direct debit scheme as it was not authorised.

Terminating your finance agreement is like terminating any other contract - you wouldnt let your mobile phone company to take September's payment if you terminated in August would you?

Before going all guns blazing, make sure you've got proof notice was given otherwise it's a he said she said situation.
If you have a question about the voluntary termination process, please read this guide first, as it should have all the answers you need. Please do not hijack another person's thread as I will not respond to you

            thank you for your reply
yes, the date of termination was on the 11th of august, and they took the payment out today,
I didn't want to cancel the direct debit, in case that would be seen as a missed payment on my credit file

just to clarify I shouldn't sign anything at all when they come for the car

If the contract says you agree with the damage report and/or you agree to pay for all damages including excess mileage then I would be wary of signing it. They can't force you to and worst case, they don't collect it but then the agent/finance company is going to have to explain why you were legally required to sign the document when you weren't.

You can't have a missed payment if the contract terminated before the payment was due - up to you as to whether you reclaim that back or not.

                hi
is this a normal legal code of practice by motonova, i dont really understand it
                they state in their letter
"You will be asked to sign the report at the point of inspection
giving your agreement to the inspection comments before proceeding"

"on agreement, we would ask for payment of any costs noted at the time"
                thanks in advance

                    thanks rob

is this a trick that the finance company uses
offering a 20% discount where i pay for any costs at the inspection
and 10% if i pay withing 48 hours
                    thanks

All I can say that these are common tactics by finance companies, very much standard just variations of them. People who don't want any hassle or threats of legal action, adverse credit entries etc. will pay up and others will stand their ground regardless.

Whatever basket you want to be put in is a decision entirely for you and you alone.

                              hi
                              can i ask,
when the finance/agents check over for the condition and lets say it needs some repairs, and then sell it at auction
can we ask for copies of the repair bill, and the actual selling price the car went for
                              cheers
