  • VT Letter

I will be sending my VT letter (provided by @r0b) tomorrow by first class recorded so should arrive by Thursday 27th at the latest. My next payment is due on the 1st July, can I cancel my direct debit if they receive and sign for the letter before the 1st July?

    Thank you

Yes you should be able to. As the payment is not due until then, you can terminate at any point and not pay any further instalments provided you have paid at least 50% of the total price.

The finance co. might argue that you should pay it because the instalments are paid in arrears or they may give some other excuse. The reality is that at the time of termination, the instalment was not due and payable soyou could cancel the day before and still you wouldn't owe that instalment since your liability is capped.
If you have a question about the voluntary termination process, please read this guide first, as it should have all the answers you need. Please do not hijack another person's thread as I will not respond to you
