  • VT planned for next week - advice needed

    Hi,

I plan to VT my car next week. The car is in immaculate condition (no dents, scuffs, marks and full service history with the car manufacturer) and I am below the pro-rata mileage by a few hundred miles. I plan to use the template which R0b has prepared.

I've read a lot of threads on issues when you are over the mileage but can't see if problems arise when you're within the mileage. Anything I should be aware of? Has anyone had any issues when returning a car below the agreed mileage?

    Thanks

    C

    Hello

If you are under the agreed mileage pro-rated then your only worry is the condition of the car. That said, I would take a photo/video of the odometer as proof that you were under at the time. Sometimes agents can travel one end of the country to the other to drop it off at an auction site and then when a second inspection comes along, shows that the car is over the agreed mileage which the finance co. will likely pursue you for unless its a nominal amount.

If you haven't read my guide on VT I suggest you take a look at that (click here). Plenty of background and useful information to prepare you when you do exercise your VT right.

If you have a question about the voluntary termination process, please read this guide first, as it should have all the answers you need. Please do not hijack another person's thread as I will not respond to you

R0b I have sent the VT letter yesterday. Should I stop driving the car now?

Csharma84 You can drive the car up until they collect it

not sure about this advice - when I VT'd my Mercedes I had to stop driving immediately as I was no longer the registered keeper . I'd check with the finance company to be sure.
