  • Caravan purchase

Trying to buy a relatively touring expensive caravan that is on consignment with a dealer. It is not CRIS registered and never has been. Want to know how how check that it is free of finance or encumberences. Any ideas? Can i buy indemnity insurance to protect my purchase?

Is there no chassis number on it.

The CRiS number display is one of the most obvious signs of a stolen caravan. All caravans built since 1992 to the UK NCC specifications (and a number of imports that have more recently been built to such a specification) will have the CRiS number displayed on at least seven of the windows. This number should also be stamped in a variety of places into the chassis.

perhaps telephoning these people and explaining your situation, they might have a solution for you.

Thanks. There is s VIN plate on the chassis but no way of matching it against any database. Not all uk manufacturers use cris registration.

Would not the the link I gave you be able to check it? If you already have doubts, would it not be worth looking for a different one.
