  • Voluntary Termination - Time limit on potential repairs?

    Hi,

I had a loan on a 2nd hand car which I voluntarily terminated back in January this year. Now, having left the car standing for a good couple of weeks, I discovered some of the gears were quite stiff (actually the highest gear I could get to work was 4th) and an engine management light was coming on. (Typical). Anyway, I limped it over to the Auction House and just thought well I'll jus have to face the consequences, i.e. a bill for repairs. However it's now almost June and still nothing. I've also been checking to see if it's taxed and it isn't, which suggests it's not been sold. Is there any time limit on when they can write to me for any repairs they think I'm liable for? Also, I've discovered the loan is still appearing as active on my credit report and is showing 3 missed payments! Normally I'd want this sorting out but I'm worried that by getting in touch with them it might alert them to "Oh we're glad you've called Mr **** you owe us £***** for a new gear box!

    Thanks

    Axle
