Good evening,
I've been through the newbies thread and not sure what to do now - especially since time is running out to dispute the charge. I was parked at BP garage for 43 minutes because the pumps had an IT malfunction and I was told to wait there by the BP staff (told would be working in 10 minutes each time). I did not see any of these signs and so surely I didn't agree in to any contract!!! I wouldn't have stayed in the car park for more than 5 minutes had I known.
Anyway, I told MET parking the situation, since Hertz charged me £42 for the job of confessing on my behalf. I disclosed my details and explained in the hope these evil companies may show some compassion. I would like to apply to avoid being charged...please help! It's going to cost me £142 for BP garages screw up!
This was the response after I appealed to MET:
Re: Parking Charge Notice Number AB196408 (Vehicle: GJ19VRY) Site: (782) BP Stansted SF Connect Issue date: 03/07/2019 POPLA: XXXXXXX Thank you for your correspondence received in regards to the above parking charge notice. The terms and conditions of parking are clearly stated on the signs prominently displayed around this site. These include that parking is for customers whilst on the premises only and that there is a maximum permitted stay in this area of 30 minutes. You have acknowledged that your vehicle remained on site for longer than the maximum permitted stay therefore we believe the charge notice was issued correctly and we are upholding it. We note your comments however we are confident there are sufficient signs at this location bringing the terms and conditions of parking to the attention of motorists and it remains the driver's responsibility to check the signs where they park and comply with the terms and conditions. This decision, which has been based on the facts of the case and takes into account our consideration of any mitigating circumstances, is our final decision. You have reached the end of our internal appeals procedure and you now have a number of options: 1. Pay or, if you were not the driver of the vehicle at the time of the incident, request the driver to pay the Parking Charge Notice at the prevailing price of £60 within 14 days of today's date. Please note that after this time the parking charge will revert to £100.
