Smart Parking PCN

Hi, I received a parking charge notice after going in cradlebridge retail park and collecting on 'click and collect' from M&S. I did not drive myself, and the driver who dropped and waited for me did not park in any of the bays. They just waited for me and then we exited the site. As we hadn't parked the car I did not realise that we would need to put in our registration. The site stipulates that there is 3 hours free parking. I was on the site 11 minutes and then about 8 days later for about 14 minutes; we did not park on either occasion and now we have two parking charges. I have appealed but Smart Parking has rejected both. Is this worth going to POPLA with? I have been advised to just ignore them by a friend but that makes me a little nervous! I have been into M&S but they do not 'own' the car park; the manager told me that they have had so many complaints that the system was changed (about 10 days after my charges) so that you no longer have to enter your registration number. Any advice would be gratefully received. Thank you.
