mashappy:mashappy: Hi all legal beagles and fellow people on this forum, this is the first time I've joined a forum for assistance and therefore must apologise in advance if I appear somewhat "dumb" on how they work ��,
I have received a county court summons from the CCBC in Northampton, it was lodged by Civil Enforcement Ltd regarding a parking fine for overstaying allotted time. The car registration is in my name but the driver was someone else, I have not answered any letters from various "companies" although I called one of them once notifying them I no longer lived at the address the correspondence was sent to ( I had moved out several months prior due to divorce and overlooked changing the V5 as my ex wife still resided there)
I have read on various websites that I need to respond with a response to the service but I am absolutely overwhelmed by everything I have read and need simple clarity on what to do, when to do it and what to say,
please help, I'm not stupid but this is all new to me,

Right ... first things first! You need to acknowledge the claim (online via MCOL using the password on the court claim is easiest) within 14 days of the issue date. DO NOT enter a defence at this time ... acknowledging the claim gives you 33 days from the issue date in which to prepare and enter your defence).

Once we can see the docs you've received you should get more advice xx

Wow, that's an amazingly quick reply, so many many thanks, could you tell me what a "redacted" piece of paperwork is????
And of course, I will forward it on, for your information, the summons was dated 2/12/2016 and therefore the date of service is 7/12/2016

:sorry: for tlate reply .. I was putting my toddler to bed. You only need to contest jurisdiction if you live in Scotland or Northeast Ireland xx

Having registered the Acknowledgment of Service, I am quite keen to start preparing my defence.
I have spoken with my daughter and she has confirmed that she was driving and where the car park "offence" took place.
What is my next step,

Good evening M1,
Many many thanks for your post to my dilema, I have started to complete the template you have graciously prepared, I only have one quierie, In paragraph 5, It states "I was the keeper on xxxx" would this be the date of the incident or the registration of the vehicle?
I apologise for my confusion, but as stated at the begining of this thread, I have never needed legal assistance before and am trily in awe of people, like yourselves, who give of their time and knowledge to assist others,

Date of the incident usually although if you wish to be very thorough you could put the entire period of being registered keeper.

Thanks M1,
The defence template is now completed apart from the amount in monetary cost upon the signage which I will confirm tomorrow,
Once all sections are edited, should I scan and email to the County Court in Northampton or send the printed and signed originals by registered post?
