CCJ at old address

    CCJ at old address

    Hi first post,
    picked up this ccj along with Judgement for claimant letter last week from old address, i moved out nearly year ago.
    There is no information regarding a breakdown of costs and is approximately £1500
    what the heck is this for?
    ​​​​​I'm assuming this probably dates back 4,5 years ago, when i was advised to ignore!!!
    Any suggestions appreciated

    Good afternoon and welcome to the forum

    Ok so you have a CCJ, i assume this is the first you've heard of this yes? Now then, are you on the electrol register at your current place? have you registered your accounts there such as bank accounts for example? have you registered your vehicle at your current address?

    I ask because this may well be important to any application to set aside the judgment that you may decide to make later.

    Now who is the claimant? does it say on the letter?

      Hi yes first i knew of it!
      not on electoral register
      Bank at new address though temporary as i travel a lot, including europe.
      car was sold 3 years ago
      Claimant Met parking services
      Dcbl bailiffs on notice of enforcement letter

        Ok well you could apply to set aside the judgment, you would need to act promptly as time is really of the essence now you know about the judgment. You would need to apply under CPR 13.3 as you do not it seems satisfy the mandatory grounds under 13.2.

        it would really be a set aside on the basis of not knowing anything about the debt and not having the chance to defend the proceedings. it may be worth seeking the Claimants consent to the judgment being set aside while you apply as they may agree , you never know until you ask
