• Excel Parking Services

Hi, sorry if this should have been added to a different thread or something, ive not really posted before so I dont know the procedures. I've just come back from receiving an 'invoice' from the PC world carpark in hove from excel parking services, where my car spent a total of 10 minutes. I had shopped there, but also left the site momentarily to buy some chewing gum from the shop next door. Apparently this is in breach of the rules of the car park, which were displayed in very small text on a sign in the carpark that I did not see. Im a bit worried that they have more of a case in this instance, so i guess im looking for reassurance/advice as i feel this is an overly harsh punishment for a ten minute stay.

Many thanks in advance for any advice, im a bit worried.

Whilst waiting for a notice to keeper to arrive (between 28 & 56 days) contact PC world and speak to the manager with your receipt in hand with a view to utilising the unwanted item policy if they won't help. (if you haven't used the item). http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/return...878-theme.html

      Hi Mystery1,

Unfortunately it appears the person i spoke to on the phone was misinformed, i went back to branch and they informed me the most they would be able to do is email the appeal to excel parking for me. I would really appreciate some further guidance if anyone is able to help?

        Many thanks in advance.

for now ... follow mystery1's advice in post #2 and wait for the Notice To Keeper (and maybe a bit of shaming on social media re: PC World )

            Re: Excel Parking Services

Thankyou for the rapid response, but the item was just a sata cable i needed for building a pc, so it was a grand total of 2.99 im not sure its such a large issue for them. Also from the fine i have to restate the time spent in total was 17 minutes 10 of which was spent in the other shop, which is apparently why I received the fine (i have just been informed).

I guess im asking are there some procedures i should go through now, for instance I still have not emailed excel stating why i think I shouldnt pay (there is a template I think), then if they reject should I contact popla? Im really down about this now, I really thought this had been dealt with.

            Again thanks in advance

As a member of the IPC Excel use their version of popla which is IAS. http://parking-prankster.blogspot.co...g-company.html

It is likely (99.999999% certainty) that you'll lose. You stand a far better chance of winning if the retailer is shamed in to helping you. Most retailers hate bad feedback on social media.

so ... the plan is to wait for the notice to keeper through the post and to shame PC world on social media (am I right M1?)

                      Re: Excel Parking Services

Once again thanks for the speedy replies, I have been told just this evening that there is nothing they can do, re the shaming, i dont really know how I would go about doing that, do you think its worthwhile? Sorry for the repetition, I just want to be clear.

So there is little to no chance on the appeal being accepted from either excel (i completely expected this), or the IAS?

Could you spell out my other options, basically I really dont want to be taken to court, but equally i feel like this is an absolutely extortionate charge.

                      Many thanks

curryspcworld Bought a cable and got a £100 fine for parking for 17 minutes. Next time i'll use Amazon.

Same message. Don't try it'll never happen. It has worked before with many retailers but not all.

The other options are pay or ignore and see if they'll go to court. If ignoring probaly appeal first and then ignore but wait until a notice to keeper arrives for that.

Same here https://twitter.com/curryspcworld?lang=en-gb It's gotta be worth a try, you shopped there (even if you didn't spend a lot this time) and would have probably gone there again too!
