Hi, I received a letter today from a company called akinika saying I had to pay £150 for a parking charge in August last year. They are acting on behalf of parking eye ltd. They say that their client has written to me and they are now claiming the debt on their behalf. This is the first letter I've had regarding this and certainly haven't received anything from parking eye. Not sure whether to ignore it or reply to them. Any advice would be welcome.

Re: Les
Generally it is best to ignore such debt collectors. You are way beyond any appeal so it's either pay or see if Parking Eye take you to court. They are the most litigious parking company but they don't take everyone to court as it costs too much. Never heard of this mob being used by them so maybe you are in the pile marked for no court ?

Re: Les
Thanks Exc.
Here's the letter.
Our client, parking eye Ltd has written to you recently about the unpaid parking charge shown above,.As payment has not been received nor details of an upheld dispute, your outstanding debt remains due and is now being collected by akinika debt recovery Ltd.
Schedule 4 of the protection of freedoms act 2012 refers to the recovery of unpaid parking charges. It states that the creditor has the right to recover unpaid parking charges from the keeper of the vehicle if certain conditions are met. We understand that those conditions have been met and that the charge is due for payment. Schedule 4 of the protection of freedoms act 2012 can be found at http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/...dule/4/enacted.
Then it gives me the options of how to pay.
That's about it.

Re: Les
This sounds like another in the flurry of activity after the Beavis results. You could write and tell them that you have not received any previous letters and it is therefore too late to hold the keeper liable and you do not want to hear from them again.

Contact Akinika and parking eye.
Dear Sirs,
I have today received a letter from Akinika regarding an apparent parking charge notice. This letter today is the first i have heard of the matter and as registered keeper i note that this contravenes the statutory requirements of the protection of freedoms act 2012 schedule 4 for keeper liability.
I would appeal as registered keeper but note that there appears to be no option to do so. In light of this please contact the driver.
Yours etc
They will not help but you've marked their card.
