  • Premiere parking solutions & debt recovery plus

    Hi all,

I received a letter from drp the other day saying I owe £160 for parking in a car park in Plymouth in November. There was never a notice on my car and I didn't receive and letter.
I moved house a few months ago and forgot to change my address on my licence. The day after I changed it on the dvla I recieved this letter. When I rang drp I was simply told to pay or I'll be brought to court. Naturally I told them to get lost and wrote an email pps asking for some evidence. To my surprise they sent photos of my car with the ticket on the window and a expired ticket. They ended the letter saying that the debt is now wth drp.
What can I do here? Do I just ignore or do I ask can I pay the smaller fine? I'm from Ireland and the only thing I own here is my car. Will they come for that or try to have it taken from my wages? Will telling them I own nothing here help? I'm a bit freaked out by this!

Any help will be much appreciated

Contact DRP and PPS via email if possible.

    Dear Sirs,

I have today received a letter from DRP regarding an apparent parking charge notice. This letter today is the first i have heard of the matter and as registered keeper i note that this contravenes the statutory requirements of the protection of freedoms act 2012 schedule 4 for keeper liability.

I would appeal as registered keeper but note that there appears to be no option to do so. In light of this please contact the driver.

    Yours etc

They will not help but you've marked their card.

Thanks for the reply but will that be okay seeing that I've already been in contact with both of them?
Could you give me a bit of a summary as what the statutory requirements of the protection of freedoms act 2012 schedule 4 for keeper liability is about? I gave it a read but legal wording isn't the easiest to digest.

      Thanks again.

Well probably little point if you already spoken to them.

Seems a lot less complicated. I'll give that a read in the morning when I'm a bit fresher haha.
So what can I do now that I've spoken to them? I'm thinking that I should keep at pps to pay the original small fine just to make them go away. I definitely won't be paying drp a penny.

          Thanks again

Many firms would take that offer. If they don't i'd ignore until such times as the go through many letters before returning to an offer that is acceptable to you or not at all as the case may be. File everything and don't ignore a proper letter before action or court papers if it goes that way.

              Cheers.

Are judges sympathetic to people if they genuinely didn't know about the fine? I'd like to think they would be seeing how I engaged with both companies as soon as I got the first letter but somehow I doubt it.

              Again, thanks very much.

                  Hopefully they would!

I've sent them an email this morning saying that I would be willing to pay the discounted notice but I won't pay the larger one and I won't even engage with DRP.

                  Thanks for all your help.
