  • Parking eye fine- I had a ticket Help

Some help and advice please. Last month I went to a retail park in Walsall. I paid £1.00 for an hours parking and displayed the ticket on my dashboard which was still there when I came back. I returned to my vehicle within the hour and went on my way. Three days ago I receive a letter in the post showing a picture of my vehicle entering and leaving the car park. They didn't state exactly why I was being fined just that I needed to pay £50 if paid within 14 days or £85 after that. Well shocked I was ! I regularly use this retail park and its car park and pay for a ticket. I always return on time and display my ticket correctly. Why am I now facing a charge? What bothers me more is I know it's £1.00 for 1 hour and I was seen leaving the retail park at 59 minutes so I was within my hour id paid for. I'd also used a shop for which I still have the receipt that totalled to £30.28 I can not understand why I would choose to spend £30.28 in a shop but risk getting a parking fine for the sake of £1.00?? I have always paid and left on time. Please help... I have not replied to them or appealed..... Yet. Thank you in advance for any advice.

What was the reason that was given for the charge? If you can post up the letter, with your personal details removed, so that people can comment on it and give better advice.

Keep that ticket in a safe place !!

Hi ostell. It's a receipt from a shop on the retail park not the ticket for parking. It was last month I went there and wouldn't kept a tiny parking ticket as when I purchased it I was not expecting this to happen. I will try and post a picture of the letter they sent me ( if I can figure out how ) thanks for the reply.

Complain to the store and appeal.

For the moment appeal to Met.

              Dear Sirs,

I,as registered keeper, wish to invoke your appeals procedure. The driver, whom i am under no statutory obligation to name, was a genuine customer and paid for parking for 1 hour.

              Yours etc

Oh sorry I didn't realise. I was just wondering when you mentioned appeal to "met" who are they? Sorry I'm rubbish with all this stuff I've never been fined before feel a little lost appealing but I'm innocent so I don't see why I should be robbed of £85 pound. And when complaining to the store I shopped at, would you do that in writing or in person? I know I know I'm useless. Sorry.

Sorry that was my error. I got Met and Parking Eye mixed up. Met are just another shower of shit that try and make a fortune from motorists.

Yes. Attach a copy of the shopping receipt too.

Looking them straight in the eye is better. If you are a regular user of the store(s) and have receipts/statements to back up many many purchases even better. Look what this is going to cost you when i go elsewhere/online.

When I sign the appeal letter do I put my name at the end ? What details do I need to keep private? Do I include the car registration? An do I put my address at the top of the letter? I'm not really sure what I am doing if I'm totally honestly I feel out of my depth I'm worried about giving them too much information.
