  • Wright Hassell - Formal Letter of Claim - odd ball situation!

    Hi,

A PCN was received on 8th February 2017 for "unauthorised parking" on private land by Elite Management (Midlands) Ltd, to the value of £100. Unfortunately, the old advice of "just ignore" was followed. The lack of payment/contact lead to letters being received from ZZPS on 28th April 2017, who I know are just Elite Management badged up differently, issuing out often threatening sounding letters to scare people into paying. Apparently, the balance owed had risen to £172.

Again, these letters were ignored following advice, misleading or not. A second letter from ZZPS was received on 15th May 2017, again asking for payment. This letter was also ignored. The issue has now apparently been passed on to the infamous Wright Hassell Solicitors (difficult to ignore the irony in that name...). These "Solicitors" are now demanding payment of £208 in a letter received on the 5th June 2017.

Reading through the various forums, I can see that these letters are often from ZZPS using Wright Hassell letter headed paper. As such this letter was also ignored. Yesterday, the latest waste of paper and printer ink was received from Wright Hassell, dated 22nd June 2016, titled "Formal Letter of Claim". As I am sure is the aim, this has made me take a bit more notice.

My question is; Do I continue to ignore? The main reason for ignoring all of these communications is that the original alleged unauthorised parking took place on University Collage Birmingham (UCB) land on George St, however all of the subsequent communication states it took place on Birmingham University land, at a completely different address - Summer Row. These are two totally separate universities, and two different addresses.

I have attached a copy of the communication that has been kept and not thrown away.

Can Wright Hassell, as a Solicitor demand payment, as if acting as a debt collection agency?

Any assistance would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks
