  • Notice of enforcement agent visit

Hi to everyone, I am a newbie to this site and have read way to much info on my issue I'm now completely frazzled!

I arrived home from work to have received a notice of enforcement agent visit to your premises letter from Newlyn PLC. It states the total sum outstanding is £408.00 what I'm having difficulty with is is what it's actually for.....

Now I'm sure your there's some people going to say right okay heard it all before! She never received any letters, doesn't know anything about it bla bla bla but it's true it's the first I've heard about it( trust me I spent 12 years clearing my debts ) I don't ignore letters. You could say I learnt the hard way

Any way back to the letter. It really doesn't explain anything ! It says outstanding: road traffic
Due to : Coventry city council
Tgats it so I'm kinda confused... Road traffic what exactly? Where in coventry did it happen? What time ? What day? What was I driving ? I assume I was driving something as it says road traffic. I have not received jack from Coventry city council about anything. I mean how do I know it was me if I don't know what they are on about!!! Now what do I do is my question? How do I approach this ? Please give me some straight forward advice.

    Thanks in advance

Does it list a Reg No anywhere, if si is it a vehicle you own or have owned? Do you live in the Coventry area?

Re: Notice of enforcement agent visit

The debt will be a unpaid Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) relating to a parking or CCTV contravention issued against you by the council.

The debt to the council is £98 (consisting of £90 for the PCN and the court registration fee of £8. The balance I'm afraid is bailiff fees of £310 consisting of £75 Compliance fee and a personal visit fe (enforcement fee) of £235.

If you had genuinely not received any notices, then it is usually due to one to the following:

All notices had been sent to a previous address. This is usually the case where DVLA were not advised of a change of address on the V5C.

Secondly (and far less common), is where all notices from the council had been sent to the leasing company etc.

If you can post back to advise which of the above may apply, further advice can be given.

Sorry, I should have also mentioned that you should be able to visit the local authorities parking department website and input your VRM to view the contravention.

Re: Notice of enforcement agent visit

The letter from Newlyn's is extremely serious as the case is clearly now at the stage of a personal visit. As such, the enforcement company will be able to locate your vehicle very easily by way of ANPR assisted vehicles and if so, your vehicle will be clamped.

It is important that you contact Coventry City Council to ascertain why notices from them had been received by you. If it is the case that all notices had been sent to a different address, then you are legally able to submit an Out of Time witness statement with the Traffic Enforcement Centre.

Re: Notice of enforcement agent visit

Thanks for your replies milo but I honestly have not received nothing ! Like I said before I spent 12 years on a debt management plan which finished last year so I know the consequences of ignoring letters. I have lived at my address for the last 3 years and my last car was registered at my address. Only thing I can think off is I purchased a new car end of January this year. I have the v5 document but maybe there was a cross over before I received it??? Have tried calling council today as yet not got through to them will try again tomorrow. Have emailed them aswell

              Thanks again

Re: Notice of enforcement agent visit

                Morning everyone

Here's an update for you! Finally got through to Coventry council and I have to say the guy was extremely helpfull (doesn't happen oftern) turns out I drove through a bus lane in coventry in June 2014. Now this where the fun starts.... I was driving a hire car due to the fact that my car at the time had been in an accident so original letter went to hire company. They then gave my details out that they had on file which would have been my old address as we were actually in the process of moving house when the accident happened and I had the hire car. As soon as he said 2014 I knew exactly why I hadn't received any correspondence. Now it's time to fill in the out of time witness statement feel a lot better knowing what it is

Thanks everyone for all your advice
