  • Advice on how to appeal a private parking fine

    Hi there;

    Can anyone give advice on how to appeal a Private Parking Offence?

    Here is the background. I am a company car drive (car is leased through Lex). I have today (14 Nov) received a "motoring Offences Invoice" from Lex, saying someone apparently committed a parking offence at Lidl leatherhead on 18th October. The company issuing the fine is Athena Anpr Ltd, Ascot, Berkshire.

    Now Lex have charged me £12 already for "processing" and I am yet to receive anything from Athena via Lex for the fine. Also, Lex's letter says that Lex Autolease will provide the driver details or fleet (i.e. my company) details to the Issuing company, who will then send this onto me.

    Any advice on how to appeal, what form a draft letter should look like, etc? All advice is welcomed.

    Pretty much guaranteed they will fail on hirer liability, so as long as the driver is unknown to them, that's an issue.

    Sadly being an IPC member it's not a guaranteed win on appeal so make sure you target Lidl management.

      Thank you M1

      I do appreciate the response. And all for 98 pence worth of bread!

      I will approach Lidl's management as you suggest. Get a feeing this will just give me a headache from banging my head against a hard object, but this fine is just not right. I know I was a Lidl customer and bought the bread in the store. I just do not have a receipt to prove it and at 98p, I paid by cash so cannot show a line on my bank statement.

      Thanks and regards;
