Can't quite read the signs, do they say you need to enter the correct registration number ?

Yes, motorists must enter their full correct vehicle registration when visiting the payment machine.
But I used the car park a lot and key in reg al the time, so I cant see how this time it actually issued this one with just a 'C' on it.
Its not even a registration number, not as if I have just put a digit in wrong, I was going to say, technology isn't 100% foolproof, and feel the machine was at error. Or should have just returned the money and I could have started again.

Am up at 2am tomorrow so will do it tomorrow when i get home.

Seems from their evidence that at least one other car suffered the single letter fault.

I wish to respond to the operators evidence as follows.

The operator has not included the PCN within their evidence. In 2013 lead Popla adjudicator, Henry Michael Greenslade said,

"The operator should always produce a copy of the parking charge notice. It isappreciated that not all ticket issuing systems produce a ‘carbon’ copy and
computer generated reproductions are acceptable. However, these must be true
copies and must show all relevant details including the amount of the parking
charge, the discounted amount and payment periods.
The details on the parking charge notice cannot be changed once issued. If the
operative makes a mistake before issuing it, for example by entering an incorrect
vehicle registration mark, then the parking charge notice should be voided and a
            new one issued."

This report is still available on the Popla.co.uk website even though it is now a different operator who runs Popla.

The operator has stated that there was no payment made and/or an incorrect registration entered. I state that the correct registration was entered and that there is a flaw within the system. It is clear from the operators evidence that this is not an isolated incident as there are other similar single letter entries on the list of payments provided by the operator. There is no requirement for the driver to do anything other than enter the correct registration and the driver upon entering the correct registration cannot have any control over the claimants faulty system but in any case an incorrectly printed ticket is not against the terms and conditions and only entry of incorrect details breaches the terms. This did not happen and not breach occurred as the operator accepts that payment was made.
