I received a parking fine for Parking in Matalan Car park, advising no ticket purchased. I did in fact purchase a ticket, but for some reason only the letter 'C' was noted as registration number. I have the ticket and it relates obviously to exact times I entered and left the car park. I appealed to Smart Parking and assumed as I had a ticket to prove that I had in fact purchased one, and also that I had also purchased something in Matalan, that the fine would be cancelled. But they say as I did not put right reg number in that the ticket is not valid and not complied with terms and conditions. Any suggestions what to write on appeal. Just noticed only given 7 days and has to be done by 10th August. Thanks

Re: Smart parking/popla appeal
Have you tried complaining to Matalan, taking in a copy of your receipt ?
Appeal again to Smart as the registered keeper, telling them that their ticket machine keypad must have a fault. Do not disclose the driver, unless you already have.

She has a popla code, why would she appeal again to Smart ? I also think she has given away the driver id too which is a pity.

I think I should have looked on this site first, but silly me, assuming I actually still had the ticket confirming I had in fact purchased one, that that would be enough. I have already appealed stating this, but have now received Poplas reply with Smart Parkings responses, that is what I have 7 days to reply to. In fact the car is in my husbands name, but it was me using the car, but I didn't realise that this could have been used in my defense. I can send you the response from Smart parking, but as I am still on going on having the ticket is there not much chance. I have used the machine on many times and always got the right reg number, don't know why only gave me a ticket with 'C' on it. They have sent me a copy of the pay machine saying machine was working!! Any advice greatly appreciated. Husband not happy as in his name!! Oh dear. Thanking you for replying so promptly

The first page was just addressed up and said
Please find enclosed Smart Parking Limited's response to your Popla appeal.
Not sure what you meant by ' whether they supplied popla or not' as don't really understand what popla is?
Thanks again.
