I've just got a £40 parking fee for going over the 3 hours allowed at Asda's Brighton Marina car park. Went to a restaurant and over-ran. Don't have the time for long litigation or the cash to risk losing a bigger amount. What should I do, please?

Re: Help needed - ASDA parking fine
It is unlikely Asda will help since it sounds like you weren't a customer. It is also unlikely you have much of a chance to win before popla and as such you risk paying more to get a good, but not guaranteed, chance of paying nothing. It doesn't take long as all you have to do is follow the instructions until you get a popla code then post up the tickets etc then lodge the appeal which takes 10 minutes and again when they reply post up their evidence which we'll reply to. If an hour of your time isn't worth the chance to get off, pay.
Otherwise

Re: Help needed - ASDA parking fine
I regularly use that Asda but not on that occasion. The car park is never ever full up, it's so big. I'm happy to put spend an hour or so on any process, but I guess I need to know the likelihood of winning versus the likely extra cost if I don't... Any guidance here, please? Thanks for your help.

Re: Help needed - ASDA parking fine
Well the odds of winning with a first appeal are very low. Doesn't add to the cost as the discount is usually offered after losing.
If you go to popla then the discount is lost. Chances of winning are good, somewhere around 80%+.
Chances of winning at court are not that good after Beavis (cost circa £200 in total plus any costs you incur handling a case) but the chances appear to be slim that they will go to court. http://www.bmpa.eu/companydata/MET_P..._Services.html
