  • Blue badge / disabled parking

Can anyone help to find out if london parking solutions are responsible for ensuring that there is a disabled / blue badge bay or facilities at a reduced rate for people using the land that they manage.
I work on a business estate in central london and there are no places made available except on a temporary basis. The landlords seemed to be amenable to begin with but then LPS said no.

The people in control, be that LPS or the landlord need to comply with the equality act 2010. Reduced rates are not required IMO although the act requires reasonable adjustments which would be things like longer time, larger spaces etc.

Do you get paid a reduced rate to the non disabled drivers in this carpark?

I know of many places including hospitals that offer larger bays for disabled parking but still charge full whack

What is a disgrace is that supermarkets often have more mother and baby parking slots than disabled ones , then some woman (or man) turns up with a 10 year old and insists they have a right to use it

Not just longer time, but be close to all the main amenities. There is an argument for reduced rates for Blue badge holder as they require the parking space not for their convenience but because their disability affects the extent that they can access the essentially amenities, schools etc, which without significantly impedes, impacts on their lives. In contrast, the comparator the none disabled person parks for convenience, so is it fair that they should pay the same? The none disabled simply do not need to park but choose to, it could be said; whereas the disabled person must park so a reasonable adjustment for these reasons potentially should be discounted parking for Blue badge holders where they're not free.
