  • Parking Eye Parking Charge

    Hi,

I know this has been posted before but a bit nervous about it so thought I would get it clarified.

Currently living & working in UK but originally from Australia, had a friend visit, we hired a car and parked in a Morrisons car park on 1/10/15.

My mum in Australia informed me that a parking charge had arrived on 24/11/15 from Parking Eye that was issued on 31/10/15.

It had that if paid by 14/11/15 there would be a discounted rate of 60 pound and after that it would be 100 pound due on 28/11/15. I haven't even had a chance to pay the discounted rate because it only just arrived!

The other thing to mention is that my name is incorrect on the letter - Kirsten instead of Kristen. Does this have any impact?

I've read lots of posts about Parking Eye but am worried if I don't pay that I will end up with debt collectors after me and a bad credit rating.

    Thanks in advance!

    Kristen

    No.

Have you spoken to Morrisons management (instore) ?

Can you scan the paperwork up minus you personal info up (or obtain copies) ?

Haven't spoken to them - just found out today. I only have a photo of it - which I have uploaded and blacked out personal info.

        Dear Sirs,

I, as keeper, wish to invoke your appeals process. The driver did not see any signs. I note your notice to keeper is fundamentally flawed when compared to PoFA 2012 schedule 4 para 9 in several aspects .

Should you reject my appeal please supply a popla code.

        Yours etc

Speak to Morrisons to and if you get a popla code come back for a suitable appeal.

I presume that there was not a ticket on the windscreen and this was an ANPR event. It seems as though the Notice was received in Australia?

If the letter was sent to Australia then they are hoping that someone will pay out of fear.

I would tempted to wait and see if the reminder letter arrives. If it does then name the driver and see where it goes from then on.

If it did go to court then if they tried small claims then it would be out of the courts jurisdiction, though there may be an "arrangement" in place.

Show us the rest of the letter so that its compliance with POFA can be checked, hence whether there is any keeper liability

Seems an odd one. Hire company is not liable if they have named the hirer but ParkingEye may be trying to get the HireCo to pay and then get them to recharge.

Which HireCo was it. And as M1 says Morrisons can sort this one out.
Not here a lot but you'll find me on Pepipoo.

Hire companies need to do more than name the driver. 13 &14 PoFA.
