• UKPC Ltd £100 Fine For Parking In McDonalds Car Park Whilst Eating In McDonalds??

Hi There,

Sorry If You Have Heard This All Before
Received A CHARGE NOTICE Courtesy Of UKPC Ltd Informing Me That I Have A Parking Charge Amount Of £100 Or £50 If Paid Within 14 Days.
The Letter Contains Photos Of The Car Entering And Exiting The McDonalds Car Park Using Number Plate Recognition.(No Parking Ticket)
And Says-
"We Do Not Know The Name And Address Of The Driver. We Therefore Invite You, The Registered Keeper, To Pay This Charge Notice Or Provide Us With The Name And Current Address Of The Driver So That We May Write To Them And Request Payment."

I Was Parked In The Car Park For 2Hours 54Mins And Was Sat With A Friend In The McDonalds Restaurant For The Entire Time Purchasing Food And Cups Of Tea. We Don't Have Any Receipts As it Was The 11th March 15. They Were Disposed Of Long Ago.
I Genuinely Cannot Tell You How Long I Outstayed My Welcome As I Honestly Did Not See Any Signage/Didn't Even Enter My Head To Look.
But Having Researched How The Private Parking Companies Work I Am Sure There Are Parking Notices High Up Lamp Posts Somewhere.
mystery1 You Seem To Be Really On The Ball Regarding Parking Issues So I Would Really Appreciate Your Time And Advice.
Not Excluding Anyone Else Who Can Offer Advice And Help. I Would Be Really Grateful As This Has Come Out Of The Blue!?

Many Thanks For Taking the Time To Read This And Hopefully Help.

Just Found This Video After A Bit Of Research.
So Should I Listen To This Expert And Make The UKPC CHARGE NOTICE Into A Paper Aeroplane And Simply Ignore It!?

No, don't do that. That is old advice and is no longer applicable. Also, this thread should be under ppc's sub forum as it's not a fine, it's a claim for damages from a private company.

Hi arabesque,

Thanks Very Much For Your Reply. I Spent Most Of The Night Researching This And Realise The Video Was From 2010 And The Advice No Longer Correct As You Have Confirmed.
Any Ideas How This Thread Can Be Moved To The Correct Sub Forum?
Thanks Again

Thank You Kati

UPDATE: Just To Keep Those Informed In A Similar Predicament To Myself I Have Just Contacted The Manager Of The McDonalds Where I Was Parked As A Customer And Subsequently Fined.

She Was Very Attentive And Understanding. She Asked For The Charge Notice Reference Number And The Cars Registration Number And Said She Will Contact UKPC LTD And Have The Charge Notice Cancelled.
She Explained Another Customer Had A Similar Complaint Which She Had Cancelled, But UKPC LTD Still Sent A Second CHARGE NOTICE Which They Should Not Have Done And So The Manager Contacted Them Again And Eventually It Was Cancelled.
Fingers Crossed This Is Now Resolved But I Will Keep You Posted!

Hi,
I have just tried this with McDonalds at Gatwick. The Manager is less than sympathetic despite the fact I am in the restaurant spending money. His view is very simple, you can only stay for one hour regardless of how much you are spending and you can't come back for two hours. He suggested I should approach MET Parking but to be honest I already know what they will say so I will write to McDonalds HQ if see if that progresses thing any.

Failing that and having read Parking Eye vs Beanie I have little alternative other than to pay the £50 within the 14 days or gamble against the £100.

Parky.

Parking Eye v Beavis was for a car park where PE paid to be allowed to ticket cars, not the same situation as yours. The case is still under appeal to an even higher court so should still not be used.
