Final outcome: Maureen paid up. We did not mail CEL.
Set against the imminent escalation of costs via either a bailiff arriving or the irrecoverable set aside application fee, this unpalatable decision seemed the only sensible course. Many thanks for your input.

However as long as Maureen is happy with the result that is all that matters.

CEL might still be encouraged to play ball as the statement of truth along with the assignment is big trouble for them.
