  • Marston over charging?

Hi guys I just received a letter from Marston for a parking fine I didn't pay. They posted me a letter with the following charges:

    Debt: £82
    Complliance Stage fee: £75

Which brings the total amount to £157. I thought they could only charge me £82 plus the £11.20 for the letter. They have not yet visited me so I don't understand the extra charges. I am willing to make the £90ish payment as I now have the money and didn't have it at the time. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

The rules changed on April 6 this year so what you have is correct. If you don't contact them ormake an arrangement to pay they will then add another £235.

What date was the letter written & what date do they say you have to contact them by?

Letter was dated 22/10/2014 and I've got till 5th of November to pay. I guess I'll just have to pay it then didn't know about the new law

Hi Elsulo, and welcome to LB!
Unfortunately, Marstons have charged you correctly (the bailiff regulations changed in April and a new fee structure was introduced). Charges are now £75 compliance fee (when they are passed the debt for enforcement), £235 for a visit (can only be charged once tho ) and £110 for removal of goods
Did you appeal the parking fine at the time??

Thanks for the speedy responses! unfortunately I didn't as the only reason I didn't pay for parking was because the parking machine wasn't working and seen a few people leaving notes for the traffic wardens explaining this so I did the same. I guess I'll just have to pay the full amount
          Thanks again though!
