Hi new to the site. Back in December 2013 I received a parking charge notice from parking eye. Unfortunately I received 3 more letters which I was advised to ignore. I realise now with the change in law that was a mistake. I have today received a second letter from a debt recovery service in connection with the outstanding charge indicating it is a notification to start court proceeding if the charges are not paid before the 9th Sept. What should I do now? Is it to late for the POPLA appeal direction? Please advise

Re: Private eye
Have you contacted Ian Hislop ? :tung:
Not much you can do now if the registered keeper and driver are one and the same. If different then name the driver and let them appeal and go to popla etc.
If the RK and driver are the same then it's continue to ignore unless you get a letter before action or court forms.

Re: Private eye
But this from the government website .gov.uk
The Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 makes a number of changes to the law related to parking. It bans private sector wheel-clamping and vehicle removal where there is no lawful autority to do so, and, as a balance to that, provides landholders with extra powers to manage parking on their land once the ban comes into force. It does this by allowing landholders, in certain circumstances, to hold the registered keeper of a vehicle liable for unpaid parking charges if the registered keeper refuses or is unable to name the driver at the time the parking charge was incurred.Attached Files“The only man who sticks closer to you in adversity more than a friend, is a creditor.”

Re: Private eye
Should I send letter to debt collectors to say I would defend any court action?
Could you please advise me on how I would contact Ian Hislop.
