  • CPM PCN - wrong times provided

    Hi,

i’m writing this on behalf of my brother so bear with me if I don’t have all the details to hand.

he’s been issued a PCN from his place of work (a hospital in greater Manchester) for which he has a monthly parking pass. He’s very careful only to park on the allocated staff car parks.

he works 9am to 7.30pm 4 days a week, no nights and never stays later than 8 by the time he’s finished up.

he has been issued a PCN stating he entered the car park at 17:47 on 12 December and exited at 07:43 the following day.

he has checked with his manager and there is card swipe data which shows him entering different parts of the hospital at times around that supposed entry time and there’s also the fact they have stated he was in the car park overnight, which he wasn’t. He parks on the driveway at home which is covered by a ring doorbell and shows the car sat there from just past 8 pm and the car is then driven off the drive the following morning at 7.20.

as he’s a member of staff, is it worth while him raising it internally with the hospital for them to have it wiped or with the parking company? He’s autistic (which is why I’m helping) and he’s panicking to the point he’s looking at selling the car and having to find a new job etc as he’s convinced he’s going to lose his job etc.

any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

So he is best off asking his employer to have the charge cancelled. In view of their own records and his doorbell coverage (don't delete that!) there should be no difficulty.
If the employer won't help, does he belong to a union who could bring pressure.

If the employer refuses to assist, he could appeal the charge with the parking company, but these companies have a reputation for declining appeals without even reading them.
But even so he has a very good defence should they ever be foolish enough to initiate a court claim.

Obviously it is appreciated you wouldn't want the matter to reach the latter stage for your brother.

Please keep us informed, as we will assist wherever possible

Happy Christmas to you & yours

Just to add for reassurance that selling the car will not cancel the charge, but none of this will affect his employment

        Thanks both.

I’m seeing him later so will advise as per above.

the bit around selling the car wouldn’t be allowed to happen but is just how he mentally processes stuff like this.

Thanks again both, all the best.
