  • Parking Eye PCN

    Good afternoon.
I received a PCN from Parking Eye for a parking session I had in Cornwall at the Watergate Bay Beach car park. The car park is pay before leaving. I parked, went to the beach and returned about 1.5 hours later. I went to the machine to pay, was asked for entry time, which I estimated (correctly). The payment only covers full hours (2, 4, 8), so I was asked to pay for 2 hours parking. I tried to pay contactless with Google Pay. The payment machine took forever to aknowledge the contactless payment, but it went through. I wanted to take a picture of the screen, but right as I was about to, I received a notification from my bank and Google Pay with the payment, so I thought that that would be enough in case anything happened. I went to the car afterwards and left. I received a PCN from them, claiming I hadn't paid. So I went to my bank statements to see the payment and to my surprise, there was nothing. I contacted the bank and Google Pay and there is nothing there to show a payment or at least a failed payment. It is the weirdest thing. So I thought that maybe the pay machine might be faulty somehow. Do you think I can appeal and if so, how should I answer, as I am sure my appeal will get rejected. Many thanks

Well if you can't show you attempted to pay you will need to dispute the charge on the basis of the validity of the PCN or the inadequacy of the signage.

Could you post up a redacted copy of the PCN (leave in all dates and times removing only your name, address , reg number and PCN ref number), and if possible a picture of the sign with even the smallest print legible!

PE normally get their PCNs correct, but occasionally make errors.
