We recently left our car with what appeared to be a reputable meet and greet company at Heathrow Airport. We booked through a price compare website, checked their reviews and everything seemed fine.
Service went well, car was collected and returned with 19miles on the clock which seems a little high, but in good condition. No problems until aweek later we received a parking ticket from Parking Eye on behalf of a local ASDA store. The day before we were due to arrive home our car had been parked in a disabled parking space without displaying a permit.
We replied to the company explaining , and giving proof, that we were out of the country at the time and giving the, the name and email of the company we had paid to look after our car. Unfortunately it seems absolutely impossible to find a physical address for the parking company and the payment was handled by the third party so our credit card has no details either.
The appeal has been rejected as we have not supplied the name and address of THE DRIVER - proving we were out of the country and naming the company who had possession of both the car and keys is apparently not enough. We have emailed asking the Meet and Greet company for details but unsurprisingly not received any response at all.
It seems unlikely that we are ever going to find out exactly who was driving the car when it should have been safely tucked up in a car park - in a way it’s a relief it’s just a parking fine and that we’re not fighting liability for a dreadful car accident of something. But I t’s safe to say we won’t be using a service like this in future.
So my question is…
Has this happened to anyone else? Is there any point trying to fight on opposing the fine further? Any thoughts or advice?
