  • Car registration & parking charge reference number not recognised?

    Hi again everyone
last week I received a letter from Group Nexas saying that as I haven’t responded to an earlier letter offering me a reduced amount if I paid within 14 days (a letter I can honestly say I never received) the amount I must now pay is £60 & I need to pay this within 14 days of this letter,I took the option of appealing the said PCN. Now I’ve gone onto the North Devon council site and under the penalty charge notice page I’ve put my registration number & parking charge reference number in several times & it keeps coming up with ‘The penalty charge notice could not be found. Please check that you have not mistyped’
Even My wife & daughter have put in the details to make sure they are correct as per the letter, still comes up the same, now my question is,is it ok to ignore this (legally) or contact North Devon council & explain the situation?
my gut is telling me if the details can not be found just ignore it as I can’t appeal it (I’m a blue badge holder by the way & the incident occurred at north Devon hospital which offers FREE parking to blue badge holders but you must input your details at the machine & enter your blue badge number on the way out,as I was stopped in a drop of point right outside the hospital door as I was going to the pharmacy dept to pick up a prescription that I was told would be waiting for me 2 days earlier, upon arrival it hadn’t even been prepared so I had to wait,in the end 34 minutes)
Any free legal advice would very much be appreciated
    thanks in anticipation

If you want to appeal this charge you need to go via the Group Nexus website (https://groupnexus.co.uk/) as they issued the charge notice, not the council
    Have you approached the hospital
Patient Advice Liaison Service (PALS) to see if they can have the charge cancelled?

By all means appeal the charge with Nexus, but do not expect them to uphold the appeal.
If appealing do not identify the driver, as there may be other defences open to the registered keeper.
