  • Civil Enforcement CCJ Letter

Hi wonder if someone can help. Today I received a letter FROM CIVIL ENFORCEMENT saying they have obtained a CCJ against me and I owe them £331 from a fine in 2017. In 2017 I appealed this fine and it was rejected by POPLA so I took it to court. In March 2019 we went to court and the judge was really nice as they had sent a barrister on behalf of Civil enforcement. Even though the judge couldn’t chuck out the claim completely she did order that I only pay £100 which is the original fine and have 6 months to pay it to the court. I paid this to the court in the May 2019 and have proof of this. According to CIVIL enforcement website when I type in my claim number it says £181 is still outstanding and no payments have been paid towards it. You can’t call anyone at civil enforcement or email so I have no clue what to do. I’ve checked my credit file and there are no ccjs registered and when I search the court claim number it say that case no longer exists. Any help would be appreciated as I’m freaking out I’m going to get a CCJ.

I would just write and tell them the court award was for £100, and this was paid into court in May 2019.
Accordingly they should close their file.

I suppose you didn't retain a copy of the court order?

Others might deal with the situation differently

No I didn’t, I got rid of everything after about 3 years . I’m going to ring the court and see if they can email me proof that the case was closed in 2019 when I paid the court so I can sent this along with the letter.

          DON'T PANIC!

I have just spoken to Civil Enforcement on 0870 919 5577 with an almost identical situation with my wife and a car parking charge. According to the person I spoke to the computer system reverted to the previously demanded amount, NOT what was actually ordered and paid, and an error has occurred generating our letter. Have checked with the court and done an online CCJ check and in our case this seems to be the case. I asked for a letter stating that this was an error from Civil Enforcement and received one immediately. Hope this helps, I doubt we are the only ones.

Hi thank you so much for this , I couldn’t find a number anywhere. Yes I called the court and they confirmed there was no judgement made but I checked on Trust online and paid £6 and there has been no CCJs on any register.

I called the number today and they have said the same that it was a computer error that put all old account back to the original amount outstanding and it then automatically sent out the letter. They have sent me a email confirming the account was fully paid in 2019 and no CCJ will be ever obtained. Thank you so much Markstock this has saved me lots of time trying to go through old bank statements.
