  • APCOA electric charging point faulty

I work at a large NHS teaching hospital and on 10th June 2024 parked my electric leased vehicle in an electric charging gap in the hospital car park managed by APCOA. The charger was faulty (evidenced by the red light in the photo later provided by APCOA) so I didn’t plug my car in. My lease company informed me that a PCN had been issued because I didn’t use the charging point. I appealed. APCOA asked me to provide my home address, I did not provide the information leaving them to contact the DVLA or lease company. Several weeks passed and I now have a ‘Notice to hirer’ PCN addressed to my home address dated 4th November stating that I contravened the T’s & C’s by not charging my vehicle. I cannot appeal again and have not had a response to my appeal. They are stating that they will contact a debt collector. I can’t speak to them (there is no way of doing this). I am worried about having debt collectors on my doorstep because my 15 yr old daughter is often home alone (homeschooling). Do debt collectors ever show up or is it more likely to be threatening letters? Not sure what to do next.

You would not have received a response to your initial appeal as it was not for you to appeal.
The PCN had been sent to the hire company (is the company the registered keeper?) so it is for them to either pay, appeal or name the hirer.

It would seem they have actually now named you as the hirer, so the company have sent notice to you as hirer.

Don't worry about the debt collectors, they have no power and will not be visiting.

Can you post up redacted copies of everything they sent you?
there should be more than just the notice!

do not identify yourself to them as the driver from now on!
