  • UK Car Park Management fine

Received PCN for £60 in May 2022 (no longer have the paperwork), for not paying parking charge of £2, at that time there was no visible signage in car park about parking charges. (There is now signage there to pay via an app) I appealed on online & received confirmation that they woild respond in 35 days, but heard nothing. Received letter dated 15/12/22 from Debt Recovery Plus on 4/1/23. They claim I owe £170 & I have missed 4 payment deadlines? I rang them & asked about my appeal, they said they had rejected my appeal on 21/6/22, but were unable to tell me if decision was emailed to me. I have not received any correspondence. They offered to reduce the fine to £144.50 or a payment plan for the £170, I asked for a payment plan for the £I44.50 but they refused. How do I proceed with this, surely they need to provide proof of email rejection & previous 4 deadline letters, your advise would be appreciated.

IMO you either agree to pay, or keep attempting to negotiate or you ignore them and wait to see if they initiate court proceedings.
They obviously aren't going to admit they failed to follow their associations code of practice
When they start court proceedings at that point you can dispute their claim
Photos of the site without signage would help your case. There might be some reports in local paper of that time, or on social media, or old Google Earth
Without proof I doubt you will win
