  • Britannia Parking

    Hello,

Earlier this month a vehicle parked in a shopping centre outdoor car park managed by Britannia Parking. The driver did enter the vehicle registration and pay a fee at the machine but for some reason a PCN has been issued to the keeper for failing to make a valid payment.
It's a terrible system where the driver types in their registration number on the machine and pays a fee. The ANPR camera then gets the reg on the way out. The issue is that there is quite a lot of margin for an error to occur. For example, the driver may input the reg incorrectly without realising. With the machine being outside it's not ideal if it's snowing a blizzard, trying to verify the correct details on screen.

In any case I read another post where someone appealed on the basis of paying but entering the wrong reg, and Britannia rejected it because the onus is on the driver to pay the full and valid payment!

I am not sure if such a mistake occured in this instance but I consider it a possibility. The driver may not still have the ticket confirming payment which is unfortunate as that prints the registration number on it together with the date/time and fee paid.

Anyone know how best to approach this? It is a single PCN and the keeper has not received other PCNs for many years.

    Thanks.
