My daughter lost her licence in 2014 for a drink drive offence (yes she was more afraid of telling me than facing the court !!)
Went to court and got the full shebang as it were and got 16 month ban and had to take a medical to get her licence back.
She was offered the drinking awareness course at a cost of 198.00 and 3 days off work which she undertook to buy a quarter off the ban
Her licence after the course was completed was due back July 3rd this year.
This is where it all goes Pete Tong.... she tried to get the medical form from DVLA for about 8 weeks before her licence was due back which was a joke . The DVLA for some reason wouldn't acknowledge the course certificate and it took the courts to email the DVLA the dates it was taken and receipts etc.
DVLA finally sent the medical form to arrange a medical at a private clinic quite a long way from where my daughter lives...... but the medical form was to renew a lorry or bus :-(
Calls DVLA umpteen times and finally gets the appropriate form . Calls the private clinic to arrange new appt (This appt has to be paid for as well £100)
They can't make an appt until mid September and it takes approx 7 weeks from appt to having licence returned.
This takes her well past the date of when she would have had her licence back if she hadn't attended the drink driving course.
What/who should she contact to get her monies returned for the course as it was pointless, she has had to wait longer than if she hadn't done it
