  • Requisition - uninsured motor vehicle. Sent cheque months ago

Got an automatic fine for one of my cars that is parked off road and has road tax, forgot all about the new insurance rules.

Took it on the chin and sent off a cheque to save having to pay the full £100 and declared the car SORN. Received a refund for the road tax.

Fast forward 3/4 months and I receive a "Requisition" for failure to insure or pay!

As I understand it my responsibility ends with having posted the cheque, I can only assume RM lost it or DVLA have. I have checked my bank account and the money does not appear to have been taken out.

What would be the best way to proceed?

    Thanks in advance

DVLA have no power to fine you.
What they are offering is a conditional penalty, which you can pay or else let them take you to court.
Did your cheque go in the same mailing as your SORN declaration?
I read somewhere that DVLA lose about 100 letters each week. Somebody did a FOI request.
I'd get back in touch with them and explain the situation, but remember, you will be found guilty as you admit failing to sorn the uninsured vehicle. Best to negotiate with them.

Sorn declaration was done online and cheque was sent in the post.

I have no issue paying the £50, just not sure what to do now going forward with the Requisition.
