Hi
After moving house in January 2023 I forgot to change my v5 address. Car tax was due January 2024, didn't get a reminder and forgot. Remembered in March 2024, paid tax, changed address on v5.
May 2024, received letter from 'past due credit' demanding £80 "it's time to pay your drive and vehicle licensing agency (DVLA) penalty of £80. I realise that the DVLA will have been sending letters to my other address as this is the first I have heard of it.
1. I read there is a 6 month rule about going to court or they cannot do so? It's currently been 5 months.
2. The date of offence is 01 / 01 / 2024 (the exact day the tax ran out)
3. If I don't pay will this go to court? Im thinking of just paying it.
I am also now wondering if I might get further letters if I was caught driving during this time with no tax, as obviously I forgot to renew it.
Thank you for reading.
