  • NIP Recieved for speeding 37mph/30mph

Couldn’t find a space for this but hoping someone can help of point in the right direction.

I have a company car and received a NIP for speeding after being nominated as the driver. I’ve logged in and taken a look but not confirmed anything.

It’s the new style cameras with the radar and presumably ANPR.

On the photo they provided the image isn’t great and I can’t make out my full registration (though I am viewing it on my phone).

Everything was done in the correct time frame well within 14 days.

    Attached image.

    Am I plucking at straws?

They must have had the reg clearly enough to identify the owner so I would say yes, you are plucking at straws!

And you should be offered a course for that speed, provided you have not done one for an offence which occurred in the three year period prior to this one.

Just for information, the only time limit on the initial proceedings is one of 14 days for a NIP to be served on the Registered Keeper. There are no time constraints on any subsequent NIPs. In fact, there is no requirement for any other NIPs to be served at all. Any that are provided are done so out of courtesy and also because they are produced by the same system - and usually printed on the same piece of paper - that produces the accompanying "Request for Driver's Details" (which is not subject to any time limit). The only other time limit is one of six months in which the police must begin a prosecution in court.
