  • PCN at Doctors Surgery

Hi, I received a PCN in January after visiting my Doctor. I had no idea that parking conditions had changed as normally you just key in a code at the barrier to exit. This was given by reception. Anyway I assumed the barrier was broken, attended my appointment and that was that. A few weeks later I get the PCN. Apparently you are supposed to enter your car reg in a screen at reception. I saw no signs and was not told by anyone. Obviously if I had been aware I would have done so. This is a free GP surgery car park. I can prove I had an appointment also. How on earth can they get away with this. So far I have ignored everything but today received a CEL letter before action demanding £140. Bit unsure whether I should continue to ignore. Please help 😞

Complain bitterly to the doctors surgery in the first instance and demand that they cancel.

Unfortunately ignore is not recomended these days.

If there was a ticket on the vehicle (you got a ticket a few weeks later so either yes or they were very much later than normal) then you may still have time to appeal ?

Thanks for advice so far. Doctors reception say it's nothing to do with them and say there are signs. There was no ticket on the car. Car park is free. You are supposed to put car Reg details on a tablet in reception but it is separate to the self service appointment check in. I was simply going to see my Doctor which I can prove. As can't see how not putting your Reg into a tablet is an offence. Apparently it is to deter people parking there as it's close to the train station. The entry and exit times would obviously indicate I was not on a daily commute. This is very stressful!
