Hi, I'm hoping someone will be able to help me with this as I'm torn about what to do. I am a community midwife, I was called to a home birth in a block of flats in the centre of town. I parked in a doctors space (there is a gp surgery in the building with parking in the basement) normally I would have got a permit from the surgery but it was 21:30 in the evening and the surgery was closed, instead I left a note on my windscreen stating I was a community midwife on call and with a contact number. There was no where else I could have parked nearby, especially given the amount of equipment I have to carry into a home birth. I was in the premises until approx 04:30 in the morning, on returning to my car I had a pcn on my windscreen from uk cpm issued at midnight. The reason for ticket states it was because I had parked in a private bay without a permit. I have 14 days to pay £60 or the price goes up to £100 etc etc. Initially after looking on money saving expert I thought I'll ignore it but now I'm getting twitchy that that might not be most sensible action. What should I do? My 14 days is up on this thurs. Oh and my health trust will not pay for parking tickets.
