No, within a Restricted Zone, road markings are not needed. The loading restrictions apply to everyone, including couriers.

So how is one supposed to know where a "restricted zone" begins and ends?

        Without roadmarkings its impossible, surely?

There is a sign at the entry and another at the end of the zone. There are time plates in between

            Re: Camden PCN

Just noticed on the google map that the restricted zone no loading sign is situated at the junction with Bucknall St WC2 whereas the PCN says Dyott Street WC1. This seems to fit with the fact that only part of Dyott St is a restricted zone

              Re: Camden PCN

I can't believe that's fair because to the untrained eye (normal punter) it looks as if it's an area where restrictions cease (no road markings).

Michael - please could you post a more specific link (have had no luck in finding that to which you refer on the massive gov site in the link you posted above) - or even cut and paste the relevant bit? :tinysmile_kiss_t4:

Thanks Michael but it's just a list of towns (or LA's?)

Yes, well, I've found it and tried to copy and paste it to no avail.

                      It's impenetrable!

                        Agree with Michael.
Where a restricted Zone is in operation no road markings are required.
The only way to fight the PCN is to show it is possible to enter a restricted zone without seeing the warning signs eg the signs are absent, obscured at the wrong height or wrong angle to be seen easily from a vehicle, av they don't comply with the regulations

The sign shown on the google map does not seem to comply with the wording set out in Schedule 2 of the TSRGD 2002. I can find no such sign as "Restricted Parking Zone". The sign should read "Controlled Zone" or one of 6 permitted variants (see schedule 2 page 105). I would contest the PCN on the basis the signage does not comply with the regulations (if the sign shown on Google has not been changed)

                          Re: Camden PCN

Camden confirm that the sign said restricted parking zone -
"The vehicle was parked within reasonable distance of a time plate stating that this was a restricted parking zone and that loading or unloading was not permitted at any time"

                            Re: Camden PCN

                            Just looked at the link posted by Michael and it seems the Gov website doesn't know what the regulations are;
                            The wording above "ZONE" is either:controlled/meter/disc/ticket/disc & ticket/ticket & meter/pay & display
I cannot find in the regulations referred to by council muppet the sign either on the Gov website or shown in Google..
It might be worth asking the council in which schedule of the regulations their sign appears!

The sign at entrance to zone appears not to comply with regulations, therefore not enforceable.

Is it because of the way its worded that you say -The sign at entrance to zone appears not to comply with regulations, therefore not enforceable.

YES:doggieyes:, but sometimes this sort of argument wins, other times it doesn't
