  • Car warranty issue

Recently bought a car from a trader, car was advertised on eBay/auto trader etc and advertised as engine and gearbox excellent. Had the car 3 weeks and timing chain has gone so I’ve contacted the trader who keeps making excuses to get rid of me, I’ve sent emails and kept a record of everything. Now I’d like to go small claims but the address he uses is not actually an address and I don’t have his name (just his car dealer name) how do I go about this? I paid by bank transfer.

when I bought the car I couldn’t find the address so he said he’d meet us where I’d stopped, I know this was silly mistake as obviously he does this to hide his address. I’m not asking for a refund just a reasonable amount towards repairs.

If the car was bought from a Trader, then you have Consumer Rights 2015.

You need to gather evidence, check various other sites where the car may of been advertised etc.

Lodge a complaint with Ebay, so they are aware, it makes it difficult for him to 'operate'.

Report it to CAB / Trading Standards.
