  • DWF claim for accident via MIB

Hi. I received a strange letter today from DWF Law LLP saying I need to pay over £1k for an accident that I was involved with abroad over 10 years ago saying I was uninsured and they are recovering costs on behalf of MIB. I was insured and the insurance company paid out to me at the time. I'm baffled as to what this is about and how I can be served a random bill after so long. I do have the policy number and claim number so I can send them that, but don't have any documents relating to it anymore.

Wondering about contacting MIB directly to see if this is valid but interested in others' opinions.

So you are aware of the accident that is being referred to and you were involved in it?

I would contact MIB directly and say this is the first contact that has been made with you regarding this accident in 10 years and you have no idea why you are being asked to pay money to MIB. So will they please explain why this request has been made.
All opinions expressed are based on my personal experience. I am not a lawyer and do not hold any legal qualifications.
